Job Description

40-70/h depending on years of experience

Top 3 technical skills that are required for the role:

1. Manufacturing equipment design

2. SolidWorks proficiency

3. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing

Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Years’ Experience Required: 3-20

Established and productive machine designer.
Works independently with general supervision on larger, moderately complex projects / assignments
Sets objectives for own job area to meet the objectives of projects and assignments
Contributes to the completion of project milestones
May have some involvement in cross functional assignments
Makes or recommends enhancements in machines and processes to solve equipment problems or improve effectiveness of the machines
Communicates primarily and frequently with internal contacts
External interactions are less complex or problem solving in nature
Contacts others to share information, status, needs and issues to inform, gain input, and support decision-making
May provide guidance and assistance to entry level design engineers, validation engineers, and process engineers.
Requires practical knowledge and demonstrated competence within CAD, documentation, tolerancing, pneumatics, mechanisms, and powered actuators.

Day in the Life:

Design assembly and test equipment using CAD software (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
Define design requirements and conduct design reviews
Prototype and test designs throughout the development process
Support product design engineers with prototype builds
Participate in manufacturing planning and analysis activities
Partner with outside suppliers to develop production equipment
Support qualification and manufacturing launch activities

Must Have:

BS Mechanical Engineering
3+ Years machine design experience
3+ Years CAD?software experience (PTC Creo / SolidWorks)
Automation design experience
